Albany, New York

Options in the Capital District range from the budget-friendly motel rooms to the luxury hotel suites. Prices for a similar room in the Capital District are much lower than in New York City. Most of the accommodations in Albany are in the two to three-star categories with a room at a motel for as low as $50 per night and at a four-star hotel for $150.

Hotels in Downtown Albany
If you plan to stay in Downtown Albany, there are a couple of good hotels but will not find any budget priced rooms here. There are four hotels in the downtown area and all located a short distance from the Hudson River waterfront. A well known hotel here is the three-star 74 State, a boutique hotel located along State Street. Other three-star hotels are the Hilton Albany and the Hampton Inn and Suites Albany. If you are searching for cheaper rooms, there is the two-star Holiday Inn Express on Broadway Avenue.

Hotels Outside Downtown Albany
You can find cheaper rooms outside Downtown Albany. Just outside the downtown area but nearby are the three-star TownePlace Suites and Hilton Garden Inn, and four-star Morgan State House. Further away are several two to three-star hotels around the University at Albany, along Washington and Western Avenues. In the nearby suburb town of Colonie there are one to two-star motels offering comfortable clean rooms at nearly half the price of a standard room at a three-star hotel.
