Corning Tower Observation Deck

The Corning Tower Observation Deck is situated on the 42nd floor of the Erastus Corning Tower (also known as Corning Tower). The 589 feet (180 meters) Corning Tower is part of the Empire State Plaza and the tallest skyscraper in New York State outside of New York City. The tower was constructed in 1966 and named after Erastus Corning II, who was the mayor of Albany for over 40 years from 1941 to 1983. The building currently houses the New York State Department of Health and New York State Office of General Services.

The Observation Deck offers breathtaking views of Albany and the surroundings including the Hudson River, Port of Albany, and foothills of the Adirondacks and Catskills. However, the deck does not provide a panoramic view because there are no windows on the west side. The Observation Deck opens to the public (free) Monday-Friday (closed on public holidays) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (subject to change without notice). There is a non-stop elevator that takes visitors from the tower’s concourse to the deck
