Albany Institute of History & Art

The Albany Institute of History & Art (AIHA) was founded in 1791 and is one of the oldest museums in the United States. The institute is "dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting and promoting interest in the history, art, and culture of Albany and the Upper Hudson Valley region". Since its founding, several institutions have merged and in 1926 became known as the Albany Institute of History & Art, which has evolved over the decades into an established regional art museum. The Institute is located in Downtown Albany and comprises a complex of three buildings.
