Bronx Museum of the Arts

 
 
New York City’s Bronx Museum of the Arts is a contemporary arts museum located at 165th Street along the Grand Concourse. The museum was founded in 1971 and originally housed in the Bronx County Courthouse. In 1982, the museum moved from the courthouse to its current location into a converted synagogue. Since then, the museum has doubled in size to around 36,000 sq. feet (3,400 sq. meters). Currently the museum is home to a collection of over 1,000 artworks in various media.

The Bronx Museum of the Arts focuses on work from the 20th and 21st century by American artists of various cultural diversity including Africans, Asians, and Latin Americans. Opening days are from Thursdays to Sundays with opening hours from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (until 8:00 p.m. on Fridays). Collections in the permanent exhibits include photographs, paintings, drawings, prints, and sculptures. There are also temporary exhibits under various themes and by different artists.
