Brooklyn, New York City

Music Venues

Music Halls
Brooklyn does not share the same limelight as Manhattan when it comes to choices of major music venues. Their numbers in Brooklyn are only a handful and generally with a smaller seating capacity than in Manhattan. Among the major music venues is the Brooklyn Academy of Music in Downtown Brooklyn. If there are performances by well-known musicians and groups in Brooklyn, this would most likely be the venue. Another major music venue is St Ann's Warehouse in the DUMBO neighborhood. Concert programs here include jazz, blues, rock, and hip-hop.

Music Clubs
Brooklyn was once in the forefront of the indie music scene in New York City but later shifted to Manhattan. However, in recent years there has been a strong revival in Brooklyn's indie music scene putting Manhattan to a challenge. This include a revival in number of homegrown musicians and groups based in Brooklyn. The main venues for indie music in Brooklyn are the music clubs with several new clubs having opened in recent years.
