Places to visit include Delaware Park, Buffalo’s central park featuring a meadow, ravine, lake, forests, and picnic areas covering 376 acres (152 hectares). The Albright-Knox Art Gallery is located on the western edge of Delaware Park and features works by modern and contemporary artists including post-war American and European art. The Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society is devoted to the history of the region and housed in an early 20th century building in the park’s northern edge. Another art gallery is the Burchfield Penney Art Center, home to 7,500 collections by more than 600 artists.

Elmwood Avenue is home to a variety of shops, many of which are small independently-owned stores or part of local chains. Stores here include fashion boutiques, jewelry stores, book stores, antique stores, sporting goods, gift shops, and art galleries. From mid-May to mid-December, there is a farmers market held every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The market in Elmwood Village is well-known for offering a variety of fresh produce from the region.
