There are plenty of dining options in Downtown Buffalo including a diverse range of American and ethnic restaurants. A good starting point for dining out in Downtown Buffalo is the Theater District, stretching 20 blocks. The Cabaret at 490 Pearl Street is a short walk from the Shea's Performing Art's Center and offers casual dining under a cozy atmosphere. The Bijou Grille at 643 Main Street is a California-style bistro and entrees include strip steak, salmon crust, chicken parmigiana, and baked manicotti. Another popular restaurant is Prima Pizza & Pasta at 396 Pearl Street offering pizza, submarine sandwiches, calzones, pasta, and Buffalo wings.

  • Anchor Bar, 1047 Main Street; Tel: 716 886-8920 – The Anchor Bar is the home of the original Buffalo wings, which it has been serving since 1964. The chicken wings are deep fried and coated with a secret hot sauce.
  • Pearl Street Grill & Brewery, 76 Pearl Street; Tel: 716 856-2337 – This place is busy on nights when the Buffalo Sabres ice hockey team is playing at the nearby HSBC Arena.
  • Chop House, 297 Franklin Street; Tel: 716 842-6900 – The restaurants is not cheap but the food and service is top notch. Main course include rib eye steak, strip steak, roasted prime beef, lamb chops, and grilled tuna steak.
  • Hutch's, 1375 Delaware Avenue; Tel: 716 885-0074 – An upscale fine dining restaurant and one of the best known in Buffalo. Offers a diverse range of menu including jambalaya, grilled prawns, and veal chops.
  • Left Bank, 511 Rhode Island Street; Tel: 716 882-3509 – Another popular upscale restaurant in Downtown Buffalo. Weekend reservations can prove to be difficult and Sunday brunch is typically booked two weeks in advance.
  • Prime 490, 490 Rhode Island Street; Tel: 716 882-3328 – A modern steakhouse under a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Other dishes on the menu include seafood and Italian specialties.
  • Rue Franklin Restaurant, 341 Franklin Street Buffalo; Tel: 716-852-4416 – One of the best French restaurants in Buffalo. The restaurant has been around for more than 20 years and well-known for its superb service.
  • Buffalo Pizza Company, 1769 Main Street; 716 881-1111 – An inexpensive restaurant serving an assortment of pizza, chicken wings, submarine sandwiches, salads, and tacos.
  • Century Grill, 320 Pearl Street; Tel: 716 853-6322 – Moderately-priced bistro conveniently located across the Hyatt Regency. Menu includes chicken wings, steak, burgers, pot roast, and mussels.
  • Shango, 3260 Main Street; Tel: 716 837-2326 – A classy bistro inspired by cuisines from New Orleans. Menu includes jambalaya, Creole-style meatloaf, sautéed crawfish and shrimps, and grilled steak.
  • Charlie the Butcher’s Express, 295 Main Street; Tel: 716 855-8646 – Local restaurant chain well known for its beef on weck but also offers turkey, corned beef, and meatloaf sandwiches.
