Dyngus Day Festival
Festival period: April (first Monday after Easter)

Dyngus Day is a Polish festival dating back 1,000 years ago and in Buffalo, has been celebrated by the Polish community since the 1870s. The festival takes place at several locations in the city including the Historic Polonia District. Events include music by Polka bands, ethnic dance demonstration, and traditional Polish foods.

Thursday at the Square
Festival period: May to August

Thursday at the Square is a free weekly concert held at Lafayette Square in Downtown Brooklyn. The event began in 1986 and attracts performers at the local and national level. Only foods and drinks sold by the concessions are allowed on the premises since the event is financially supported by the vendors.

Buffalo Greek Festival
Festival Period: June

The Buffalo Greek Festival is an annual three-day event organized by the city’s Greek community. The festival began in the late 1970s and held on the grounds of the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation at 146 West Utica Street. This lively event features Greek cuisines, music, folk dance, and cultural exhibits.

Allentown Art Festival
Festival Period: Second weekend of June

The Allentown Art Festival is an outdoor festival in Buffalo’s Allentown neighborhood. The festival began more than 50 years ago as a small art show and today is a major festival in the city. About 450 exhibitors participate in the festival including participants from the across the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Festival Period: July

The event is a two-day food festival held in Brooklyn’s downtown area along Delaware Avenue. Participants include local restaurants and food manufacturers serving a variety of foods and cuisines to more than 400,000 patrons each year. The festival also offers street entertainment, music, and clowns.

Sorrento Italian Heritage Festival
Festival Period: July

The Sorrento Italian Heritage Festival is a three-day event celebrating Italian culture and history. The event is the second largest Italian street festival in the United States and features plenty of Italian foods and music entertainment. Other activities include a bocce tournament, cooking demonstration, and singing contest.

Caribbean Island Festival
Festival Period: August

The Caribbean Island Festival begins with a lively street parade leaving Niagara Street and Elmwood Avenue to Brooklyn’s waterfront at LaSalle Park. From 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the park offers plenty of live entertainment, children’s activities, foods, and various vendor merchandizes.

National Buffalo Wings Festival
Festival Period: September

The festival celebrates the city’s famous Buffalo Wings, deep fried chicken wings coated in hot sauce. The festival takes place at the Coca-Cola Field attracting about 400,000 patrons each year. The event features plenty of foods especially chicken wings, several chicken wing eating contests, and entertainment programs.
