Buffalo, New York

Major Shopping Streets
The neighborhood of Elmwood Village in Buffalo is occupied by varieties of retail stores concentrated along Elmwood Avenue (between Forest Avenue and Allen Street). However, you will not find national chains here and most are small stores either independently owned or belong to local chains. Stores along the avenue include fashion boutiques, jewelry stores, book stores, gift shops, and art galleries to name a few. Don’t miss the lively Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market held in the neighborhood on Saturdays from mid-May to Mid-December. Those searching for a bite, there is an assortment of delis, cafes, and restaurants along Elmwood Avenue.

Allen Street borders Elmwood Village and often considered as an extension of Elmwood Avenue but has a character and atmosphere that is uniquely on its own. Amidst the myriad of bars, there are also the bookstores, studios, and even antiques shops. Hertel Avenue (between Delaware Avenue and Parker Avenue) is another commercial stretch in Buffalo and home to a mix range of shops. Main Street in University Heights is known more for its bars than shopping but there are worthy places to shop along this stretch. The area along corner of Kenmore Avenue and Main Street is home to mainstream retailers including AJ Wright and Starbucks.
