Buffalo, New York

Shea's Performing Arts Center

The Shea's Performing Arts Center is a well-known theater in Buffalo for touring Broadway performances and special events. It took one year to build the theater and was originally called Shea's Buffalo, screening silent movies. Shea's boasts one of the few theaters in the United States with a theater organ (used during the silent movie era) that is still in working condition. The Shea’s Performing Arts Center fell into disrepair in the 1960s and 1970s when Downtown Buffalo went into a decline. The theater has since been restored to its former glory and today a designated National Historic Site Theatre.
