Madison Square Garden 

 
 
Madison Square Garden (often abbreviated as MSG) is a huge multi-purpose building complex or arena in Midtown Manhattan. The arena is situated above Penn Station and nearby One Penn Plaza. Madison Square Garden first opened in 1968 and labels itself as the “World’s Most Famous Arena”. Each year, Madison Square Garden is the stage for more than 300 entertainment and sporting events in New York City.

The arena is the venue for many hockey and basketball games and home of the New York Rangers (NHL), New York Knicks (NBA), and the New York Liberty (WNBA). Many famous musicians and music groups have performed here including John Lennon, Michael Buble, Elton John, The Police, and Gypsy Kings. Other events include tennis, comedy shows, wrestling, and circus shows. Tickets for the events are available from the Madison Square Garden Box Office, Radio City, Beacon Theater, and online.

Even if you are not attending any of the events at Madison Square Garden, there are daily one-hour behind the scene guided tours from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Visitors will get a chance to visit the athletes' locker rooms, floors of the Arena, and the WaMu Theater. Visitors will also get a chance to meet the Knicks City Dancers, pose with simulated photos of athletes, and learn how a basketball court is converted into an ice rink.
