Holiday Markets

Every year, during the 4-6 weeks leading to Christmas, there are several holiday markets in Manhattan. The holiday markets are open-air or indoor events selling the traditional Christmas decorations and holiday gifts such as crafts, handmade jewelry, clothing, pottery, glassware, toys, and baked goods. The atmosphere of the holiday markets and approaching festive season is a worthwhile experience to enjoy.

The Union Square Christmas Market is an outdoor holiday market in Union Square lasting for a month before Christmas. More than 100 vendors participate in this market offering plenty of foods to sample and purchase besides the traditional holiday gifts. Another well-known holiday market is at Bryant Park starting six weeks before Christmas and until a week after the holiday. The holiday market here resembles the traditional Christmas markets often seen in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
