The Rapids Theatre was originally the Bellevue Theatre, a premier movie theater and vaudeville stage in Niagara Falls during the 1920s. Located at Main Street in the city’s downtown area, the theater underwent several ownerships and management changes during its history. In 2009, local Niagara Falls businessmen John Hutchins and his associates restored the theater with financial assistance from the city government. Today, the Rapids Theatre has been established to its former grandeur and now a premier indoor venue in the city for a variety of live events.
The theater has a
seating capacity for about 600 but can accommodate more for open floor
events. The theater building is conveniently located to three nearby
municipal parking lots. Events promoted at the Rapids Theatre include
concerts, comedies, musicals, plays, and private events such wedding
receptions, parties, and corporate functions. Musicians and music groups
that have performed here include Snoop Dog, Eric Church, Jimmy Wayne,
Justin Moore, Jason Michael Carroll, Parliament Funkadelic, and Thirty
Seconds to Mars.
