Niagara Falls, New York

Canadian Niagara Falls

For a small city of just over 82,000, Canada’s Niagara Falls has more than 150 hotels, motels, bed & breakfast inns, and hostels ranging from one to five-star ratings. Many of the accommodations are concentrated along River Road (running parallel to the Niagara River), Victoria Avenue, and Ferry Street. You can also find several located along Fallsview Boulevard, Main Street, Stanley Avenue, and around Niagara Falls Centre. Well known hotel chains in the area include Marriot, Doubletree, Sheraton, Hilton, Best Western, Hampton Inn, Econo Lodge, and Comfort Inn.

Room Rates
The rate you pay for your room depends on the time of the year and closeness to the Niagara Falls. Expect to pay more during the tourist season (May to October) with rates reaching their peak during the summer. Rates also go upwards and fill quickly during weekends, public holidays, and major festivals. The closer you stay to the Niagara Falls, room rates get higher. Beware that some may have “Fallsview” in their name, but are not even close to the Falls. Some may be close to the Niagara Falls but the room given may not have a view of the Falls. If a room with a view matters to you, phone and book directly with the hotel and insist for a room with a view.

Budget Friendly Accommodations
There are hostels for backpackers but usually fill up quickly, therefore book early. Hostels usually offer both dormitory and private rooms, and have a kitchen and laundry area for their guests. You can find Niagara Falls International Hostel located on Cataract Street and Backpackers International Hostel and Inn on Zimmerman Street. For value for money, stay at the bed & breakfast inns with many concentrated along River Road and the city’s outskirts. Bed & breakfast inns are usually family operated, offering clean rooms and inclusive of a decent breakfast.
