Chinese New Year
Festival period: January or February 

Flushing is home to one of the largest East Asian communities in New York City, and every year there is the Lunar New Year celebration. The festivity includes the traditional dragon dance, parade, beating of drums, and firing of fireworks at night.

Thalia Free Outdoor Festival
Festival period: Sundays every June

New York’s Thalia Spanish Theater organizes the Free Outdoor Festival (Festival de Thalia Libre) on four Sundays every June. The venue is at Thomson Hill Park in the Queens neighborhood of Sunnyside and programs include Spanish musicals and dance performances.

Colombian Independence Day
Festival period: July 19

Flushing has a flourishing Columbian community and each year the community organizes the Columbian Independence Day Festival at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. This is a lively festival with plenty of music, dance, pageant queens, and foods.

Dragon Boat Race
Festival period: August

The two-day Dragon Boat Race is a Chinese boat race held every August at Meadow Lake in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. More than 100 teams compete in this New York City festival and accompanied by plenty of Chinese and Korean foods at the food court.

Queens International Film Festival
Festival period: November
