Museum of Moving Image

 
 
The Museum of Moving Image is located in the Queens neighborhood of Astoria. The museum is the only one of its kind in New York City devoted to the history and technology of film, television, and digital media. There are more than 130,000 collections in the museum including technical equipment, publicity materials, and magazines related to the industry. Besides the exhibits, there are plenty of hands on activities at the museum.

Behind the Screen” is the core of the museum’s exhibits describing the processes involved from production to marketing of moving images through exhibits and demonstrations. The museum has a 264-seat theater and a 71-seat screening room, organizing more than 300 screenings each year. Screenings include classics and the latest from the international film circuit. There is a gift shop and café located near the theater’s entrance.
