MoMA PS1

 
 
MoMA PS1 is a contemporary art institution in Queens located in Jackson Avenue in Long Island City. The art institution is associated with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and is one of the oldest as well as largest contemporary art institutions in the United States. Founded in 1971 and housed in a former public school, MoMA PS1 provides opportunities for young and emerging artists. Some of the artists exhibiting their work at this institution also have their studio space here.

The art institution is devoted to experimental art that advocates new ideas, often regarded as avant-garde, futuristic, or ultramodern. Artworks exhibited include photography, sculptures, and various forms of installations by artists from the United States and around the world. Besides emerging artists, MoMA PS1 regularly exhibits work by renowned artists including Janet Cardiff, Michael Tracy, and David Hammons. The institution opens to the public from Thursday to Monday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
