Noguchi Museum

 
 
Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988) was a prominent Japanese American sculptor and landscape architect. During his lifetime, he was renowned for his stonework as well as ceramics, furniture and lighting designs, architectural models, and gardens fusing traditional and modern concepts. Some of Noguchi’s artistic works are on exhibit at the Noguchi Museum, located in Long Island City in New York City’s borough of Queens.

Opened in 1985, the Noguchi Museum is a small museum housed in a converted two-story factory building with an adjacent sculpture garden. The museum comprises of 12 galleries, with the ground floor exhibits arranged by Noguchi himself and upper floor containing permanent and temporary exhibits. Exhibits include an interesting collection of stone, metal, wood, and clay sculptures as well as model replicas for public projects and gardens.
