Getting In

From Outside New York City

Two airports in New York City (both in Queens) serving Staten Island are JFK International Airport and LaGuardia Airport. Another is Newark Liberty International Airport in neighboring New Jersey - Staten Island is closer to Newark Airport than either JFK or LaGuardia. JFK and Newark Airports handle both international and U.S. flights, while LaGuardia handles flights within the U.S. and between the cities of Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa in Canada. Shuttle buses, cabs, and private cars are available from the airports to Staten Island.

By Train
Penn Station, in New York City’s Midtown Manhattan, is the hub for Amtrak trains in the Northeastern Corridor of the United States. Amtrak trains arrive from as far as Florida in the south, Chicago in the west, and as far as Toronto and Montreal, Canada, in the north. The New Jersey Transit and Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) trains departing from stations in neighboring New Jersey use Penn Station as their terminal in New York City. From Manhattan, travelers take the cab or express bus and cross the Verrazano Bridge to go directly to Staten Island.

By Bus
Greyhound has an extensive network of bus routes directly and indirectly linking New York City with other cities and towns across the United States. Greyhound’s main bus terminals in New York City are Penn Station and the Port Authority Bus Terminal (PABT), both located in Midtown Manhattan. Other long distance or intercity buses using PABT include Peter Pan Bus Lines, Bieber, and the New Jersey Transit, while Megabus uses Penn Station. From Manhattan, travelers take the cab or express bus across the Verrazano Bridge to Staten Island.
